KLX 125 Chain Stretch

It seems I need to adjust the chain on my son's 125 after every ride. I don't think I am starting too tight. On the top plastic chain guide about 1-in back from the right side edge, I start with being able to put 2 fingers between the chain and guide. After riding a couple of hours, I can get 2-1/2 to 3. It is a stock chain and I am about out of adjustment in the rear take-up. Do I get a new chain or do I take a couple of links out of his?

My sons 06 is the same. Most of are rides are 40 to 60+ trail rides,and it needs to be tightend every time. Put a 15 tooth front sprocket on it, it will buy you more time and it really helps the bike.

The problem is that the stock chains are REALLY, really cheap. Cheap chains stretch quickly.

A DID NZ428 is much better and stretches very little.

Also make sure it's adjusted while he's sitting on the bike, for some reason my chain will be loose on the stand and then when I sit on it, it tightens up ?

The DID 428NZ chain is NOT an o-ring chain, will that make much difference?

We're running a Regina 428rx3 chain on our drz125. 4610 lb tensile strength, plus the gold chain looks awesome! I don't think an o-ring chain is necessary on these bikes. JMO

Oring chains soak up more horse power than standard chains. A DRZ125 cannot afford to give up anything in the horsepower department, even if it is a small amount.
