If you look at the Santa Rita rain gauge, they have got very little rain at the creek so far.

sorry I don't have weather radar or the internet in my truck. I had to go with my gut instincts which told me this storm intensified over night greatly surpassing the weather predictions which i watched up to last night. That was not small rain I drove thru for 90 minutes till I got to Tracy with no relief in sight I had to assume it was a wash out. I went to a snow out 3 weeks ago and I have to return to CC in2 weeks again for the TMC weekend.its a 4 hour drive and I had no real ride buddies to play ride with except Giant mike who was with his family/ kids and wife....so I did not make the turn around decision lightly........ I made it based on the sheet fall rain and my wipers going back and forth at full speed for 90 minutes then another 90 minutes on my way home. If this storm skipped over CC........ then it was a sharped edged storm with a bottom at about 152....... cause 152 is only about 40 miles south of Tracy as the bird flys and CC about an hour south of there.

My choice was continue in this torrent.... even though the news said only "showers likely" take a chance on sitting in the rain at CC all day Saturday alone in my wet truck and then racing on a difficult WET course in my first HS a task I don't look forward to.

Bottom line, you guys weren't out there passing spin out hyroplane accidents on I-5 every 10 miles this morning and no I don't have weather radar in my truck to tell me what is at CC or not. It was FRIGGING POURING From FOLSOM and all the way to TRACY with not even a minute of let up. at 6 am I turned around.

What's that camera pointed at? I lived there for years and can't figure it out... ?

Ashford Circle/Cienega?

I have no idea where that camera is. I wish they'd clean the glass in front of it once in a while, sometimes it looks like it's raining when it's not. The time-lapse is kinda flaky too, usually doesn't work. It is cool to see what it looks like down there before you go though.

Hey Bob, I wasn't slamming you for turning around, believe me, I'm the king of the "fair weather riders". I'll usually only go if I know it's going to be good. I've spent too many weekends sitting in my truck or motorhome waiting for the rain to stop, not fun.

The worst was an enduro at Stonyford years ago that was cancelled literally as my buddy was going up to the line to start the race (he was on one of the first minutes). We drove up the night before, listened to it pour all night, then had to make our way out of a mud pit-parking lot-gridlock-mass exodus the next day. The headwind and rain coming down highway 5 was so bad I had to draft big rigs just to keep my motorhome and trailer at 55. It wouldn't have been that bad but we rode our bikes about 10 minutes worth when we got up there the night before, so the bikes, all our gear, motorhome and trailer were all covered with mud! The cost of gas, food and the race entry fees, plus about 12 hours on the road, all for 10 minutes of riding.

left Folsom 430 am in light showers, ten minutes later it's a frigging down pour 90 minutes later I'm in tracy and It's a frigging 40 year flood. No prospects for riding on saturday, and ten minutes of this storm down at CC will make the Hare scramble a survival challenge.

SO My old bones tole me time to throww in the towel and I came home thru 90 more minutes of DOWN POUR........still raining out side

Damn weather.com showers likely was the forecast not a MOSES flood.

Weak. I dont think it has even sprinkled here in San Jose. Did the forecast call for the entire state to be wet or what? Why did you think it would be raining 4 hours south of you? ?

Big Bob you made the right decision.I didnt!

Got ready to leave at 5.30 it was chucking it down here in

Livermore,so checked every source of weather info we could find, most were saying showers in clear creek area

We waited until about 8.00 when it was clearing and decided to give it a go.We hit the showers about 15 miles south of Hollister.

Get to CC and it is raining. We start getting ready after driving up the sloppy mud road in,and our friends who we were meeting ride up shaking their heads. They had done 11 miles and said it was just a mess they were finished for

the day,so we load up and drive back.Im just off to jet wash all the lovely CC mud/cement off of my truck.

Before anyone says anything we are all experienced riders

and we are not fair weather either!

Anyway Im hoping its going to be 3rd time lucky for the rescheduled Wild Boar.So dont feel like you missed anything Bob.

Well there must have been an umbrella over San Jose Saturday. I left my house in a downpour Saturday at about 8:00 AM, drove to Yosemite, and it rained all the way, didn't let up until about 5:00 PM. The forecast was for scattered showers, yeah the showers were scattered between the downpours. :bonk:

Sunday was a beautiful day though. The drive up 49 this time of year is incredible!?

Yeah, I heard from riders that the creek was pretty slimey yesterday. Today it was clear creek perfection ? Got in 58 miles but members of the pack were running out of gas, even had to break out the buddy tow.

I was at Clear Creek marking course Saturday and it rained until 2pm or so.

We returned Sunday to paradisaic conditions... Just another 2 days at the Creek! ?

Yep, Saturday was rainy until about 2 or so like someone said. Took the kids out just on the main road past all the staging areas, and had the step daughter abandon her ride and left me to figure out how to get it back to camp. ? She really threw a fit! Someone in a 4X4 gave her a ride back to camp, she wouldnt even let me hike her back. The rest of the kids tuffed it out back to camp. Anyway, I tried Indian hill a couple times, made it about 2/3 up, and flopped over. One of the 16 year olds that is friends with my son made it up a few times. It was mushy and wet all the way up. I made it up Sunday, although it was still pretty slimey. I just ended up Sunday, which was really nice out, escorting the kids and wife to Idria about 4 times. The downhill to the main low road to Idrea was slimey still, but they were on a quad, and I had a blast on the RMZ in that stuff.

Bob, you wouldnt have got much riding in at all Saturday, but Sunday was cool. Quite a mess for me to clean up over the next week or so. Those kids will be helping! I cant coordinate but 1 or 2 family trips a year to riding areas, and I'll be damned if the last 2 were crappy weather ? Everyone is in school sports, dances or whatever, its hard to make happen, then it rains! Whaaa....lol
