450x Rear brake light/running light?

Recommended Posts

I had the mechanic where I bought my bike do the "pressure switch in and put a resistor in the line" thing to get a brake light. It works great! Everybody else was trying to get me to buy a "UFO kit" or Baja which would have been more expensive and took away the clean look of the stock light.

Front Range Colorado

elevations from 5000 to 12000 ft

155 main

red needle, clip 3 from top

55 leak jet

still tweaking the CRFsONLY fuel screw

twin air

opened air box

Need to get radiator braces? or guards? or both? I'm not sure if I need both guards and braces??

Need skid/glide plate

On my 450x, I put the pressure switch in, bought a 10 watt 100 ohm resistor from Radio Shack ($1.99 for two), installed it inline on the black wire with the pressure switch wired to bypass the resistor and the stock light works excellent as a brake light/running light combination.

If you'd truly like to be seen...

Putting a resistor in the stock light is not the way to go about it. And wouldn't pass for legal. It is a clean way to get brake lights... but honestly you can't see the thing when the sun is shining and on your rear fender.

Here's a thread that might help if your looking to be safe, and be seen. It's not DOT approved, but I'm sure they'd never hassle you. I've not had a problem.

There's several guys who have done this mod, and I'm sure they too can speak up and add to my comments. :worthy:
