Muzzy and burning pants

Anyone know a good way to heat shield the midpipe of a Muzzy exhaust? Right now, the bottom of my pants leg occasionally brushes against it and are getting burned.

You could try some exhaust wrap. TT store has some made by Helix racing.

you could weld or have a couple of nuts welded to the midpipe, or use hose clamps. if you drill a hole thru the clamp, put a flat headed 1/4"-20 or m6x1.0 bolt thru so the threads are pointing out. then use a nut over the guard. i think you would have to take the midpipe off for this.

or, you could tuck your pants into your boots & just burn your boots occasionally.

I had the same problem burning my Fox pants. I had pieces of leather sewn to the insides of the legs. It looks like they came that way and I no longer have to scrape melted nylon from my midpipe. ?

I bought a eline/white brothers carbon heat shield from the TT store that clamps on (31-9012):

I am going to use hose clamps and piece of metal strap to attach the original heat shield to my CRD pipe.

No drilling required. I'll put the hose clamps so that they press the metal strap to the pipe.

Im putting my pipe on today, and have fabricated mounting for my stock heat shield. I just drilled a hole in the hose clams and secured with lock washers. No burnt pants here!

You can get a universal one from Forrest at wheelincycclesupply.com that looks something like GTLEGACY's with the clamps and such.

I just fit the guard on today, added a washer to eliminate the bolt from sticking past the nut. Im just afraid of the nuts vibrating into the aluminum...ill keep an eye on it for a while.
