Carb needle mod - help!!

Hi, I've been 'uncorking' my xr650r (2003) and was wanting to know if changing the needle in the carb from 2nd to 4th position (as per uncorking recommendations I've read) was an easy job, ie can it be done without stripping the whole carb. The jets have been replaced but forgot to do the needle mod - would there be much performance gain to make it worth doing?

It's easy to do and can be done without removing the carb from the bike. Remove the throttle cable at the carb, loosen the clamps at the intake manifold and air box so you can rotate the carb, remove the two screws on the top of the carb and lift off the top cover, remove the screw in the middle of the throttle shaft, twist and remove the shaft and the outer spring, then lift the slide out. After you remove the two screws at the bottom of the slide you can access the needle and adjust or replace with the B53E.

It is definately something you don't want to overlook.
