End of winter ride - NW PA

Recommended Posts

Temps got up to 45*, so I thought I'd take a ride. The roads were either muddy or still covered with snow/ice with the dreaded 'anti-skid' lurking at some of the corners. There was still some snow in the wooded areas.

I rode into an area known locally as Two Mile Run County Park. The story behind Two Mile Run Co Park is one of those sad ones. The County decides it would be in the public interest, so they force people off their land and build a park where some folks can fish and others can walk their dogs. It's called Eminent Domain. The lake was still frozen. You can just make out the ice fishermen in the background.

Sorry about all of the obligatory 'bike in photo' photographs, but it's the price that must be paid when a man rides alone !

Some of the roads were still a bit slippery.

The trails were perfect.

It started to rain.

So I decided I'd take a short cut home.

It's OK, I know the folks and ride here often. As you can see a number of ATVs ride in this area too.

This is the shortcut. A trip down the runway of a local airstrip ! How cool is that?

I work my way back home.

Although you can't see much in this photo, this hill is steep and it's slippery. At least the photo shows that the DRZ was getting traction when it needed to. It stopped raining as I arrived home, so I hit some trails near the house.

Found some winter storm damage.

Self portrait.

35 miles. Good ride. Great to get out.
