yz 2006 bolt on oil tank

Recommended Posts

do any of you know why it is necessary to remove the bolt on top of the oil tank. When changing oil? Is it a breather hole? Also what was Yamaha thinking when they put the crankcase oil drain bolt on the side of the crankcase. How are you to tork the bolt? Make sure not to over tighten the oil tank bolt. The oil tank is aluminum. I almost made that mistake. Use the service manual torque spec of 5.1 ft.lb Thanks PJA 2006 YZ 250F

It allows the oil to come out easier, it's a vent.

There is a tool made by motion pro. It is a wrench that hooks to your torque wrench. It has a 12mm on one side and a 14mm on the other. I torque my crank case bolt with it every-time. Works great!
