Brand New 06 WR450 had a short throttle stop.

I purchased my WR450 brand new off the showroom floor, broke it in and have just recently done all of the mods to it.

I was really surprised when I pulled out the throttle stop to find that not only was it actually shorter, but it looks like it had been cut down by hand (http://www.12feet.com/images/throttlestop.jpg). All of the other AIS components were in place. The pilot jet that I removed was a 45 and I believe that is what comes with the bike.

Has anyone ever had anything like this happen with a brand new bike?

My neighbor bought his 05 WR250 and the dealer cut his down before he picked it up. I have heard that some dealers perform this mod to all their WR's before the sale. ?

Given how easy the throttle stop mod is it doesn't surprise me a dealer is doing it. It also keeps people from thinking the bike is a dog.

I saw one dealer that had all their CRF 150/230s come with the power up kit already installed.

If that's the stop in you picture, DON'T USE IT !! Its too short and can permit the throttle to get stuck wide open. You need to permit the stop screw to act as the stop. If you go as far as you screw looks like it will allow there are other components that reach their limits before you hit the screw. Eventually they'll bur-up and stick.

My dealer change the stop for me for free. For as much as they are charging for bikes now this should be mandatory.

yeah mine came with the shorter screw already in it when i bought i brand new
