96 ktm 300 exc dual sport set up how?

Recommended Posts

I've got a KTM 300 exc 1996.

What do I need to get the electrical system to handle turn signals and a horn?

What kind of speedometer can I use and how does it pick up the reading?

Thanks in advance.

Bajadesigns.com will sell you a horn, front and back light, brakelight switch, handlebar switch, and blinkers and a small battery for about $470 bucks - if you want to spend this I suggest you call them but first find out what kind of stator you have (2K or 3K). This is supposed to be a plug and play deal

Then you have to buy Mirrors again at baja designs. and a speedo. For a speedo get one from a bicycle shop or site, you should be able to get it for about 20 bucks as opposed to 80 that that motorcycle shops sell. Get the wired ones

For a cheaper alternative (but much more time intensive) you might get away with your stock head and tail light, with add-on stalk blinkers ($20 a pair)

and a blinker switch and blinker (60 bucks from bajadesigns). You may have to add in a battery in your air box with a rectifier (sp?). Of course you can get a good bycycle horn (with it's own battery http://www.bikepartsusa.com/product_info.phtml?p=01-170019

here is a site to get individual dual sport parts

Before you shop, know the regs for your state:
