Kouba Links & Shock Spring Rate

Recommended Posts

I've had a Kouba Link (3/4" lower) on my DRZ-S for about a year, and I like the results (I'm 5'7"). I mailed Norm a while ago about how heavy-a-spring I'd need to balance the suspension a bit better (and get the rate closer to stock). He said that the Z1 Link would need a 10% heavier spring. That would mean that I'd need to get a straight-rate 6.0Kg/mm.

When geared up, I'm 165. Currently, I find that the rear is pillowy when riding solo, but is way too soft when carrying my camp gear.

Anybody in my basic weight range used the Z1 Kouba Link with a heavier spring?
