swingarm linkage problem?

I have an E and just took off the shock to send it to Race Tech. This is the first time that I have done this with any bike and I noticed that the swingarm has some resistance to it when pivoting it up and down. Is this normal? It makes since to me that this should move effortlessly and all resistance should be the job of the shock. There are no grinding noises or anything else to make me believe that there is a problem. Anyone know about this?

Hey man. I did a complete overhaul on my '94 cr250 last season and realized that when properly torqued, there is quite a bit of resistance in the new bearings and all the friction points. Not to worry, it would be normal for it to seem sticky. Just remember, don't forget the 5 min of greasing often since it will save you a lot of money and work later on....Don't worry though, I haven't experienced it on my drz but have on the honda which had a similar linkage-type rear suspension...
