i got a little clean happy

so after my last race my clutch was fading so today i sprayed it with my pressure washer and changed out the clutch while i had the cover off i had already sanded the paint off the cover so i hit it with my bench grinder(buffing wheel) to see if it would shine and the damn thing turned out nice so then that got me cleaning ....... it just looks so "perdy"

Just watch out for rust now!! Wipe it down with some WD-40 after you wash it.

yeah i know the shine will go back to a flat aluminum color but i'm not worried about keeping it that way ...and throttlejockey i didn't mean to include that but nice to see someobody actually knew what it was

no before i sanded off the paint i painted the honda part red ...then when i sanded and polished the cover the red stayed in the inlay honda part

Magnesium still "rusts." Metals oxidize when exposed to air and moisture, no matter what kind. Aluminum does also. Polish something and let it sit in the open for a while and it will begin to take on a dark golden shade; this is oxidation.

Your right. The term "rust" refers only to metals with iron in them(ferrous metals). The iron comes in contact with water and air and forms iron oxides which will eventually disintegrate the metal. Alumminum and magnesium however, form oxides on their surface which acts as a protective, corrosion resistant layer. The process is called passivation.
