Question about Neutral Switch.

Recommended Posts

Got a friends 04, trouble starting....valves in spec....carb clean...bla bla bla...

My question is, is it true that the neutral switch controls a different "easy kickstart" ignition map?? If so that could be my problem. It will pushstart but not kickstart easily.

I have the same issue will rarely kick start but will bump start. Dealer doesn't know either everything seems in spec, they're doing a leak down test tonight?

It changes the map for sure... you should be able to tell a difference in how your bike idles if you hold the clutch in and shift from neutral to 1st, should rev higher in gear.

If its the same in both positions perhaps the switch is suspect?

test for spark first, see how much spart you get and if there is a great resistance in the coil.

make sure the plate on the slide is attached so when you look in the carb the "m" stamped on it says "M" and not "w". that happened to a customers bike here and it wouldn't start, flipped the plate over, started great.
