adjusting gear box?

How do i go about adjusting my clunky gear box? Seems to always happen after about 1000 miles or a day of hard dirt riding. I heard it is common for the clutch cable to loosen up but my clutch cable adjustment at the clutch lever it adjusted all the way out.

sounds like the infamous clutch cable issue to me. There is another adjustment point near the clutch end of the cable.

Personally I went with a rekluse but if I wanted to keep an active clutch then I'd go with a magura juice clutch.

So your saying i need a new clutch if the two adjustment points dont help? How long can i safely use the clutch in its clunky state?

You can always adjust the arm position as well at the actuator. But usually you can get it with the second adjustor. It has alot of range. If it is far enough that the arm needs adjusting there is often other issues. Not always but often.

If your cable is stretched to the point where you can't make it work with the lower adjuster and your top one is all the way in then you need a new cable anyway.

Do you slip your clutch a lot when riding off road?

As long as you don't pound on the transmission and match the engine speed with the tranny speed you won't hurt your gearbox.
