Frame paint/guards

Recommended Posts

I've got a 01 YZ250F and I've got a substantial amout of frame rub from my boots, does anyone know where to get either touch up paint or: frame guards that cover most of the exposed length? I've seen some blue plastic ones that seem to do a good job. Thanks.

The Rust-oleum blue metallic is very close to the yamaha blue on the frame. I just finnished my cousins bike and it came out very clean. I'll get pics as soon as I figure out how to use the software that came with my digital cam. I used spray on bediner on the bottom of the frame to keep rocks from chipping it.

I second the Works connection/grip tape option that motocxer117 is talking about. Put the grip tape on the part of the frame that is exposed above what the guards cover. Works great, looks good, and lasts a long time too.

hey man. I have the plastic frame guards that you are most likely talking about. They are GYT-R products, and you can get them at your local yamaha dealership. I love mine, and would recommend them to anyone. They are real cheap too, I think they run for something like 24 bucks.

I used to have the acerbis plastic guards and they worked good but I didn't like the looks of them so then I put some carbon fiber works guards on but got tired of them so what I did was repainted the frame with the PJ1 yamaha blue and then clear coat and then I put on some of the stomp grip stuff. No frame wear since I put that stuff on in like Febuary.

Thanks everyone!

JSanfilippo - its obnoxious, want one?

No thanks, the bike in this pic has an FMF Q thats already flirting with the 96 DB limit. Here is what that rust-oleum metallic blue looks like

The acerbis framguards and the bottom of the frame have spray on bedliner on them. So do the clutch and ignition covers.

UFO make some decent, cheap frame guards.

Good colour match too.
