XR400 Horsepower ?

I heard somewhere that the stock XR400 had 28hp. Is this true. What then would be the hp on my 97 XR400 that has an E2 WB exhaust, K&N Filter without the snorkel, Iridium plug (resistor removed), Mikuni pumper Carb 130/15 jets and the welds on the stock header smoothed down ? It is not close to the stock bike I bought a few years ago as far as the feel in power.

Well this is from Edelbrocks website, which is the only place I know of that has a dyno chart (though I doubt it's very accurate) of the XR400.

Boy, That really doesn't make the Edlebrock add more than 1-2 hp ? I would think it would help more when you do the other mods like Air filter and exhaust ?

It is not the horsepower, it is the torque that makes the XR the bike that it is. These things are tractors.

I got the same mods as you, i called xrs only and asked how much torque im probably runnin and he said about 50-55 tq. I did the math on my hp and i would estimate about 33-37 hp

Deceptively fast are the XR's. Power to the ground is where it is and that's the XR. Undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, dirt bike engines ever produced. ??
