That link has been published many times now. Do a quick search. No it is not a chronic problem. It is good marketing. Yes it does happen if you don't do maintenance. I did 1 at 3,000 km haven't done one since I now have 20,000 km.

the seals do not "blow".they leak becuase the counter shaft nut comes loose or the spacer corrodes in wet climate and damages the spacer.

do you live in a wet or coastal climate?if so the stainless spacer is a good idea.other wise,loc tite the CS nut and move on.
