Finally done

Recommended Posts

These are after pics of the "refreshing" job I did on my cousin's 2001 YZ 250f. The job included stripping the frame of rust/dirt/grease and repainting a majority of it, stripping and painting the subframe, cleaning and detailing the motor, 03 airbox mod. I used spray on bedliner on the bottom of the frame to protect it from rocks and stuff. The bike also got new plastics and graphics are on the way. We also okie rigged an core for the exhaust because the previous douchebag owner hacked it out...the bike is much quieter. There was about 2 weeks of downtime for this project...well worth it because the bike looks practically brand new now.

Looks good man, you look like a guy named Tom I know. Anyways, now you guy's should do the '03 Plastic conversion, can it be done to that bike? I know it can be to the 426's.

It can be done, you need the 03 and later airbox and tank. Everything bolts right up from what I've been told. Unfortunately my cousin is on a limited budget and to tell you the truth I'd rather ride that bike then wrench on it.

That looks real cool

I want to paint my frame what did you use for paint?

I used rust-oleum metallic blue on the spars and spray on bedliner on the rails under the bike, clutch and ignition covers, and the plastic frameguards. I used semigloss silver for the subframe to make it look like the 02 and newer bikes w/the aluminum subframe. Everything painted is under 3 coats of clear.

Thanks for the cool comments guys...I think the bike turned out great and its cool that y'all agree.

BTW the bike will get ridden hard tomorrow
