Upside:

Absolutely GREAT RACING this weekend at Washougal.

Downside:

Jason Weigandt's(?) microphone problem. How the H3!! can you cover an entire race with your sound 1/10th the volume of the other commentator. Quality control is nonexistant on the broadcast.

That would have been the outdoor race to see, 'specially since it is 115 degrees here, and in the 70's there, in addition to the great battling.

Too bad Washougal is so far away.

JS-1st (and overall 1st)

RC-2nd

CR-3rd

There's something I don't understand. If RC scored a 1-2 and JS scored a 2-1 how does he win the overall?

JS had a better moto 2, if RC would have scored a 2-1 and JS a 1-2 RC would have won. thats just how the scoring works

The winner of the final moto of the day for that race class, (or the second moto at nationals,) is given the benefit of the doubt, because the second moto is more taxing.

Therefore a final of...

2nd - Moto one

1st - Moto two

beats...

1st - Moto one

2nd - Moto two

This has been the motocross tradition from the very beginning.

the rule applies for all positions, not just 1st and second....so an even a better way 2 explain it would be that the 2nd moto finish is the tiebreaker for the overall when both combined moto finishes are equal between 2 riders. like a 8th and 5th beats a 6th and a 7th.

Ricky went down second moto so James won?

Basically that is right. RC and Bubba were dukin' it out and RC went down. RC caught up and passed Bubba in the first moto so it makes sense he could have done that in moto 2 as well.

No one said the rule applies to only 1st or 2nd. It is but a intellectual baby step to understand that the same concept would apply to all the combinations of finishes.

If you want to type out the entire rule book because someone asked a question, go for it.
