Need some advice.

Recommended Posts

I just bought a 2003 CRF 450 and when you let off the throttle it pops a lot. It has the stock exhaust, but the guy said he re-jetted it. Could this be a jetting issue? Or valves? Any help would be appreciated.

Deceleration popping is either fuel screw/pilot jet or an air leak on the exhaust (especially if it starts from cold OK). If he put an aftermarket pipe on, make sure the head pipe is tightly sealed at the cyl head. Give those nuts an extra tweak and/or replace the copper ring.

If that doesn't solve it, turn the fuel screw out about 1/2 to 1 turn. If that doesn't solve it and it still starts easily when cold, then go back to the leaky exhaust.

sounds like the fuel screw may be lean. try backing it out and see if that helps

Also try repacking the muffler it blows out after a while and will only cost about $20.
