is this normal

Recommended Posts

when im sitting on the bike and i push down on the handlebars i can feel somthing moving around the steering stem area....like its very little but its one of those things that are annoying...only when i push down though if i try to move it forward and backwards and left to right its fine but when i push down i can feel it. idk if this is normal or not..the castle nut is tightened down as far as it can go and everything else is fine but i cant figure out why its doing this or i havnt noticed it before...

When you tighten the head stem nut, you need to loosen the top triple clamp bolts first(the ones that hold the fork legs), then tighten them after you tighten the head stem nut. It may just be the fork springs moving a bit inside that you can feel/hear.

i thought it was the springs at first cuz i could put my ear to the fork tube and it got louder..but could i really FEEL the springs moving???? i mean i put it all together fine and i the castle nut is tight and i did loosen the clamp bolts before i tightend the stem nuts so maybe it is the springs. and when i push down i cant see the bearings moving up and down so maybe it is just the springs...but if it really is a broken race or whatever u think i could race this weekend ?? i dont care if they break cuz id be buying new ones after the race anyway
