2007 Polaris Outlaw w/525 KTM

Recommended Posts

Did any of you guys see that the partnership of KTM and Polaris has produced a quad with the 525 motor in it. From what I've read we might see a Polaris dirt bike in the distant future.

NO we won't. I know a couple of the engineers at Polaris. They are working on Road bike and ATV projects only. Seven to be exact, and yes, you will see a Polaris ATV with a KTM motor very soon.

I heard the new Polaris-KTM KWAD will have room for 24 beers in the built in cooler, and there is a Donut assist bar that can help you do DoNuts in the parking lot much easier.

Don't forget to add the option that I saw a while back-A baby seat with a toddler strapped to the back of a Yamaha Grizzly riding in some very nasty terrain

I know guys. Some quad folks are total clowns, but we have them everywhere in all sports. I ride both and am happy to see this happen for the industry. I knew this post would make a few of you a little sick to your tummys. GONRIDIN, it's too bad no dirtbike from polaris. I would like to see an american made ride for those with the need to aviod the big four.

Maybe this deserves it's own thread but here's some news on Polaris trying to buy control of KTM looks like they've been blocked  :

CHICAGO (Reuters) - U.S. snowmobile maker Polaris Industries Inc.

(PII.N: Quote, Profile, Research) on Friday said its plan to acquire a

majority stake in a European motorcycle maker had collapsed, sending

Polaris shares down as much as 5.5 percent.

Polaris, which acquired a 25 percent stake in KTM Power Sports (KTMP.VI:

Quote, Profile, Research) for about $83 million last summer and said it

planned to take a majority stake in the Austrian company by 2007, had

characterized the purchase as its best hope as it struggles to cope with

sagging demand for its snowmobiles.

But Polaris said on Friday that KTM's largest shareholder, an Austrian

Holding company called Cross Industries AG, had recently indicated it

would not sell its 50 percent interest in KTM to Polaris.

Craig Kennison, an analyst at Robert W. Baird & Co. called the news "a

major blow to our investment thesis."

With the KTM acquisition now off the table, Kennison said Polaris's

five-year plan to generate $3 billion in annual revenue and 9 percent

net income margins by 2009 were "in jeopardy."

"This is a bold target, in our view, and relies heavily on KTM," he

wrote.

Polaris shares were last down $1.51, or about 4 percent, at $37.14 on

the New York Stock Exchange. Earlier in the session they fell as low as

$36.81.

In slides presented during its annual shareholder meeting this April,

Minneapolis-based Polaris, which also makes all-terrain vehicles and

motorcycles, said, "growing by acquisition is a good idea for Polaris."

It went on: "Polaris has carefully evaluated every potential opportunity

in our industry for several years. KTM is the best option for Polaris."

Polaris said the distribution and technology sharing agreements it has

inked with KTM would continue, even though the U.S. company

characterized the partnerships as a preliminary effort to see whether

closer cooperation would work.

KTM curently has it's own full team of engineers working building there own sport quad, that will also be available soon. It will be developed By KTM with limited help from Polaris.
