hitting neutral.

i keep hitting neutral when shifting from 2nd to 1st. i hit the shifter pretty hard, so thats not the problem.

i might not be pulling the clutch in all the way though.

what do you think the problem could be?

are you sure the shifter isnt too far down on the spline, my friend was having this problem, he could get N,2,3,4,5,6 but not first, its probably not the problem but just thought id put my words in. hope you find the problem.

how long have you had the bike?? when was the last time the clucth was changed? my friend had a problem like this in his yz125. and drain the oil and see if there is bits of metal in it. if so there is then there is something wrong. GOOD LUCK!

It happens to everybody, Just the way it is designed. Instead of hitting it really hard put even pressure on it and it will go in, I know its kinda hard to do when you are on a hill climb and you need 1st but try it. I try to avoid shifiting down into first as much as I can because of this issue.

Try this, when you shift hold the lever down with your foot and after letting out the clutch and your in gear move your foot off of the shift lever. Works for me!
