FCR41 MX TPS - Won't Idle After Neddle Adjustment

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I posted this on Advrider and Spagthorpe suggested I post here. Its my first post. I would be very grateful for any suggestions.

It used to be fine.

The Akra + FCR dyno shows low power and torque below 4,500 rpm.

Two people rode my bike and advised me to raise the needle 1 position.

I have done this but also done something bad but I don’t know what -

Problem - it is hard to start

- the engine will not idle at all. Without any throttle it stops.

- It is very uneven, even at 2,000 rpm which is the slowest speed I can get it to run.

What I did: -

1 took the top off the carburettor - 2 small screws.

2 I removed philips screw A so I could lift the slide up.

3 lifted the slide out of the carburettor

4 removed allen screw B, removed needle, lowered circlip 1 notch.

5 replaced slide in carburettor

6 the shaft C moved about 2 mm into the TPS housing so I slid it back again to get the screw B in.

7 replaced needle and screw B

8 replaced screw A

I rotated the throttle during the above steps.

At first I thought maybe the idle jet is blocked but it is in the bottom of the carburettor. Maybe i have upset the TPS somehow?

I took the top off the BST carb many times without any problems.

I would be very grateful for any advice any one can give.

Jerome

there was no reason to take the slide out of the carb to change the needle.

soundslike the slide plate is in upside down.

square end goes down.
