MT18 and mt21 tire pressure?

Recommended Posts

I am trying a Pirelli MT21 on the back and a MT18 on the front of my 01 drz400s and was just wondering what pressure folks use on and off road. I know they should be higher on road and take some out for off road. Im looking for any advise on what pressure to use in the 2 different situations. I will only be doing about a 5 to 10 mile street ride in between trails. Thanks for any info!

I run MT21's front and back, the front I run about 15lbs,,the rear 12lbs

If I know I will only be on the road 25 lbs(F) to 20lbs ®,,but because

Im on and off road I run the above pressures,,,I do go down to 12 and 10

when riding the soft sugar sand down here in Florida,,and people around here go lower than that

I keep at least 20 in the front (MT21) on the street. About the same in the rear.

Sorry for the hijack but what do you think about the MT18 on the front.

Actually I just ordered the tires so I will let you know in about a week or so.

I've got an MT21 front, with a Kenda K760 rear. I run 14 to 15 psi in both, and most of my riding involves a lot of connecting of trail systems, with pavement riding inbetween.

15 psi is low enough to keep the bike tracking well offroad, without getting too sloppy on the pavement sections inbetween.

13 front, 11 rear, but with ultra heavy duty tubes and rim locks.

Never change the air pressure, but I'm really slow and cautious on the street.

Street distances (generally) short also.

I used the MT21/18 combo too. Twice. Really liked it.

On Maxxis SI/Desert IT combo at present. Favorite so far.
