quick valve adjustment question

I just checked the clearances and they are

Exhaust: left .33 right .28

Intake: left .18 right .20

Should I reshim the .33 to get it down in the .2-.3 spec? What could have caused this to loosen that much?

Two things are common to cause a loose spec.. One bent valve not seating, worn, ruined cam journals. Neither of which happens as a single failure..so if all else is well...... I'd say you measured wrong or someone else set the clearances too loose.

Ya, I'd up the clearance to .3 or less.

Im thinkin maybe last time I checked them I got it a little loose when I adjusted it.

You are at the loose end on the rest as well.

which is what I want though correct, the exhuast that is at .33mm has a 300 shim in it. I was going to go to a 305 to get it to .28, so I will have .28 .28 exhaust and .18 .20 intake

Correct on the shim size ?

As far as that being what you want? I'm not you but I'd be willing to bet that that is what you want....me on the other hand tend to run mine spec'd differently. But I'm also running different cams.

thanks for the help, I picked up the shim at lunch and will put it in tonight
