Tire conversion help needed

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd post this here on the most active forum. Wife's 05 DR-200SE needs knobbies for med-hard terrain riding trails and very little pavement to get to the next trail segment. This beginner bike wants 70/100-21 front, 100/90-18 rear. I find nothing but D.Sp. and Trials in these sizes. Can I go with 3.10/21 front and 4.10/18 rear? Any experience would help.

Thanks Guys,

I have never seen a 3:10 front. Do you mean 3:00? That is kind of big, about 90/100 so I'd say no, too big. 80/100-21 would be better. What is the rim width?

A 4:10-18 rear is close enough to a 100/90-18 to be OK. (Oddly 4:10 is between a 3:50 and 4:00 width.)

Are you looking for full knobs, Dual sport, street legal DOT's???

Oh.... sorry, you're right it is 3.00/21 on the front. Don't know the rim width but it is the stock DR-200SE rim. Cheng Shin has both 4.10-18 rear and the 3.0-21. Ready to order but not sure if I'll have problems getting my local dealer to mount them because they are not stock sizes. I can mount them myself (in about 2x the time) so the biggest problem is choice for these wierd sizes. She does need full knobbies and I'd like to get intermediate-hard terrain but again...limited choices as the Cheng Shins are hard terrain only.
