Backfire Problem

Recommended Posts

I have an 05 YZ 250F that ran fine last year. Over the winter (in MN) I put a full tank of gas with fuel stabilizer in and ran for a few minutes and left all winter. I've since been told that this wasn't the brightest thing to do. This year, my bike is running like El Crapola. It backfires constantly and I've had to jack up the idle just to keep it running. I drained the gas, put in a fresh tank with carb cleaner and have run it some. I also looked at the bowl and jets for debris but found none. I rejetted the main jet to a 185 (from stock 182) but that didn't seem to help. Any idears? Thanks!

Just a thought, but did you check the airbox/carb & carb/cylinder joints to make sure they are leak tight? Also put some high temp silicone gasket seal on the pipe/silencer connection. hope you get it running right. James
