Long term storage

Recommended Posts

So my spare engine is being removed from the frame tomorrow. Or more correctly the damaged frame is being removed from the engine.

What is the best storage idea for the engine only? The carb is coming off for my S. All the breather and oil lines are plugged capped the water lines. Rag in the intake and exhaust.

Tablespoon of oil down the plug turn it over once and call it a day?

I use fogging oil all the time, comes from growing up on the coast. Smokes abit upon waking it back up but nothing inside will rust. It is used on boats all the time.

Thanks gents. Never heard of fogging oil. I'll check into it.

The engine is just in case a stroker cranks falls into my lap or I have a seperation (in my current engine  ).

This one will be a great start, E engine with an MCC, and hot cams intake. Now to figure out how to get it past the accountant.

Most marine places carry it. You can order it from west marine if nothing else. This stuff is used in boat engines to protect them during times of unuse, even if the boat is still in the water.
