XR100 won't shift?!

Recommended Posts

I've got a 2003 XR100 that I can't get to shift out of 1st gear. Every now and again, with lots of fiddling, I can get it into 2nd but then it takes all the same effort to get it back in 1st.

I'm thinking that the cause might be a bent shift fork, but my experience is pretty limited inside an engine.

Does anyone agree or disagree with the diagnosis?

Thanks!

could be, also could be something as simple as taking off the clutch side cover and seeing if the little bic pen size spring( #11 in this picture) is still there, that keeps the actuator "gearshift spindle" in contact with the drum,

you can also clean the oil screen while you are in there.
