i just got a 06 yzf250 and they gave me the manaul but i left it at my friends and i need to change the transoil. what kind should i use??

any 10w30, 10w40, 15w40, 15w50, 20w50, sae30 or sae40 will do. as long as you change it every ride.

it gets a bit more complicated when you talk brands,flavors and oil change intervaults.

1.3L with a filter change/cleaning.

Periodic oil change:

- 1.15L (1.01 Imp qt, 1.22 US qt)

With oil filter replacement:

- 1.25L (1.10 Imp qt, 1.32 US qt)

Total amount:

- 1.40L (1.23 Imp qt, 1.48 US qt)

In your case, 1.25L or 1.32 US qt. I go with around 1 1/3 quart of oil when I change my oil and filter, which is close enough to 1.32 US qt.

Make sure you warm up the bike prior to changing engine oil.

If you don't you won't get all of the old stuff out and you'll end up putting too much new oil in. Your bike will then become hard to start and feel a lot slower.

You have to also be aware that the trans oil is the engine oil is the trans oil. And, it's a dry sump lube system. Both the oil tank and the crankcase must be drained before you refill.

Use BelRay Thumper oil. Works great!

fourstrokes share engine oil with transoil so yeh... 1.25L with oil filter i just did mine a little while ago
