Previous owner's upgrade?

Recommended Posts

I i take my forks off to change the oil on them and replace the seals. i get the top bolt thing off and i see a 4 inch pipe in there. I take it out and think to myself "whats going on here?" :ride: Then I realize that it was probably in there for pre-load. But then i noticed the spring was WAY too short. about 4 inches too short. So i think these might be long travel forks with short travel springs... Whats going on here?! i have no clue what would compell anyone to do this...

All the short travel XR200R's use the spacer you describe and short spring. What year is yours?

1999 is the year... and ever since i changed the oil to 15W and changed the seals it seems even easier to push down than before...

For a 99 you should have short spring and spacer like you have.

I'll bet your springs are sacked out which is normal. A set of Progressive springs are a big improvement. We prefer 10W fork oil in the Old School XR200R.
