WR250f wont start, help?

ok, so my friend left for a trip and he left his 03 (im pretty sure) WR250f at my house. now since he got it, it has had problems starting and has been in and out of the shop many, many times... can anyone give me some ideas as to what is wrong with it

Has the valve clearance ever been checked? Hard starting is a symptom of too-tight valves.

First, get a manual.

Remove the valve covers.

Refer to the manual for correct crankshaft position and clearance.

Check the clearance between the cam lobes and the tappets with a feeler guage, and compare the readings to the specs in the manual.

If adjustments are needed, you have to remove the cams and tappets to replace the shims.

MANUAL....NOOOOOOOOOOOOO i guess i dont get to ride it then ?

If the valves are beginning to move, you don't want to ride it.
