Ignition problem...

Recommended Posts

My '99 KX250 has weak spark, unless you really kick it fast and repeatedly. I can't kick it fast enough or hard enough to get it to spark strong enough to ignite the fuel. It will bumpstart no problem. I checked all the connections and they are good. I'll clean the grounds tomorrow, but what else could it be?

HELP! I cleaned the grounds, and re-checked all the wiring connections. The air gap is correct, the flywheel is clean, all the wires are connected to the stator. HELP! I want to ride real bad today.

If the color of the spark is blue then your ignition system should be OK.

I would move on to checking reeds, carb settings, etc.

It the spark color is yellow then I would start with an new plug, ohm meter and a shop manual.

Test the various components and see what you come up with.

I have seen more problems with reeds and jets then I ever have with electrical systems but anything is possible.

Good Luck
