Ticky, ticky...valve clearance?

Does anyone know what the clearance spec. is for the intake/exhaust valves on an '02 DRZ 400E, I recently heard ticking and thought it might be an idea to check it at the same time I install my spanky-new-mcct.

never a bad time to check the valves,but highly unlikely they are loose unless some one set them that way.

Have the clearance specs changed over the years? My manual says:

.010 - .020 intake

.020 - .030 exhaust

for 2000 - 2004 for E models.

You might want to double check your manual, I have a feeling you are looking at the metric specs of 0.1 to 0.2mm Intake and 0.2 to 0.3mm Exhaust. These would be the equivalent to the inch specs Eddie supplied.

My bad. I definitely got my decimal in the wrong place . Metric clearance is 0.10 - 0.20 intake, 0.20 - 0.30 exhaust. ?

Checked mine tonight, at 4000 miles. All were within spec...

Intake Left... .006

Intake Right... .0055

Exhaust Left... .009

Exhaust Right... .0085

?

According to suzuki you should check them after the first 5 hours and then every 60 hours for the off road models and for the dual sport versions aren't recommended until 15,000 miles. That is totally insane if you ask me.

Now I personally check mine at least monthly when I'm riding. More often if I'm doing a lot of fast, hard rides.
