WNYOA. Thunder Ridge 8/13. What to expect?

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about heading up to Thunder ridge this weekend to try out a WNYOA race. Anyone have any idea what I should expect as far as the track and racing. Never done a WNYOA event before but it sounds like fun. Also I heard they have a pro-payout. Is this true? Any info or advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

its a fast course, pretty open...you also run a bit of the motocross track. However, this year i hear that they have changed a fair amount so maybe things will be different. Its a good course and well run (WNYOA events are the best run ones I have experienced to date). Yeah for the AA class they have cash hand outs.

Let me/us know if you have any other questions (they do offer camping areas if you get there the day before).

I think you would have a blast if you attended.

I agree with 40 on everything he said. Just to add the track is more or less a mix of loam and shale. Hard in some sections , and loam in others. I know you're use to riding netra, so you'll think this place is paved, catra has more rocks in their parking lot than wnyoa has on all there tracks combined. Another added bonus,if you're coming down for the unadilla gncc race, thunder ridge is only about 2 miles from it, so it'll good practice.

If you have a chance we're also running a Cross Country Hare Scrambles out of Thunder Ridge on September 16 and 17 which is the week before the GNCC at Unadilla. http://www.atlanticgrandprix.com/sept16.html

These are pictures from our June 17th race at Thunder Ridge: http://www.atlanticgrandprix.com/AGPround506.html

hey guys, thanks for all the info. Sounds like it should be a lot of fun. I like the fact that the start is at 10:30. Maybe I'll get home a little earlier then normal.
