Cam and chain as well.......?

Recommended Posts

Hey all........

My stuff is coming in and I will be ready to tear my bike apart and put it back together. I got the TR 270 kit. I got my 06' head (Thanks again Tuner!) built up from RHC.

I want to stick with the stock cam profile. My question is, how many of you replaced the cam when you rebuilt your motor? Or did you keep the original one. AND did you replace the cam chain too?

Just wondering what, if any, trouble I may run into if I DON'T change the cam.

And since I am on the subject, what else did you change out while in the motor?

Thanks all.

G-Bone.

I stuck with the stock cam and chain, although if (when) I were going to do it over (after having read a few posts on the desirability/advisability of replacing the cam chain) I probably would (will).

Nevertheless, I have a total of over 200 hours on that cam chain and cam and I've had no problems (70 hours on the 06R RHC head and valves).

The jetting is the big question for me. The jets the guys from Thumpertalk sent were way off (I'm at altitude, and although they tried to adjust for that, they didn't get very close). Based on my playing around, it seems that you don't need to make much of a jetting change for the 270 kit.

Good luck! You won't believe the change that 20cc makes!
