Difference in Red and Yellow?

Recommended Posts

Is there a diference between the red and yellow springs on the shocks? I'm thinking about switching my 1990 red spring with my 1999 spring but am wondering if there is a difference between them.

I highly doubt theres any difference at all except for the color.

With all the other threads on how to make the rear suspension better there was no talk of springs being different. Just that the 84 - 93 shock was adjustable.

Just switch the shock.

The older shock is slightly longer and raises the seat height a bit. Swap the whole unit though, not just the spring. Otherwise its a pain in the ass and it doesn't offer any benefits.

I already have the 1990 shock on my bike and was just wondering if the springs were different. i was thinking about switching the springs becuase the red one it 16 years old and might have lost some of its boing.

A spring wouldn't really loose its "boing" that easy. The shock would more likely be blown being 16 years old. Its also a major pain in the ass to switch the springs....just leave it...
