06 YZ250F starting issues

Recommended Posts

Burned,

I have a stock engine 06 YZ250F which has been jetted for high altitude in Denver. I ride/race tracks in Colorado. No matter if the bike is hot or cold, whether I need to use the choke or not, the bike will not start unless the hot start is pulled. With a warm engine it usually starts right up, if I pull in the hot start. When the engine is cold, I need the choke and the hot start to start the engine, then I have to hold the hot start open until the engine warms or it will stall. Is this normal?

Vickery Yamaha jetted the bike: 162 main, 48 pilot jet, 70 leak, clip on 2.

Thanks.

pilot jet is too rich.

you will find the stock 42 pilot jet to be fine.

use the sticky post at the top of the page to set up your fuel screw and confirm the pilot setting.
