Jetting and Mufflers

Recommended Posts

Hello Group,

I'm considering purchasing a dynaflow jet kit for my bike. This also entails cutting a hole in the air box. My question is this, if I purchase this kit now, and if I purchase a FMF muffler later on, will I need to re-jet the carb?

Thanks for any and all answers ahead of time.

Terry

the short answer is yes.. most aftermarket pipes are radically different in flow and noise from the stocker

You should get away with a slighter larger main jet and a tweak more on the pilot screw to accomodate a pipe. Main jet's are easy to reach, and don't require taking the carb off the bike. I don't think you will need to mess with the needle setting for such a minor mod. Have you also considered a K + N filter? I just fitted one recently, and wasn't expecting much or any difference over stock, but am pleasantly surprised at some extra omph in the mid range as a result.
