Fork Size?

Recommended Posts

What is the diameter of the upper for tubes on the 96 to current DR650. I was thinking of buying some used forks from a different bike if I could find any with the same sizing and sliding them in place with a 17 inch wheel then going supermoto style...Does someone know the diameter?

Thanks 2000dr650, I did some more googling and found a site that said 43, so it was close. Gonna try to find more, wish i had some calipers to measure real quick

What about a whole front end of some moto crosser with USD forks and triples? In that case you need to check the stem for fit.

That would sure up the bling factor on the 'moto conversion.

I have cross referance charts for lots of steering stem bearings...

Here are the charts for the DR650SE

Top Bottem

ID OD ID OD

RM125 93-04 30mm 52mm 30mm 52mm

DRZ250 01-04 30mm 52mm 30mm 52mm

RM250 93-04 30mm 52mm 30mm 52mm

RMX250 93-98 30mm 52mm 30mm 52mm

DRZ400 00-05 30mm 52mm 30mm 52mm

DR650SE 96-04 30mm 52mm 30mm 52mm

KLX400 03-04 30mm 52mm 30mm 52mm

There are many other bikes that use the 30mm ID bearings top and bottom.... the OD's are different, but maybe you can use the DR's bearings with the other stem/triple clamps....

CR125R 93-94,98-05

CR250R 92-94,97-05

CRF250R,X 04-05

CRF450R 02-05

There are lots more ways to do it, but this is a start for you.

Thanks for the info, I started thinking about the MotoX style usd forks and I it seems like a great idea, also because everyone makes hubs (then supermoto wheels) for the motoX bikes. Would be great, and very bling.

In this case, what is the diameter of the handlebars...?

I think all of them come with standard (7/8") size bars.

However, I also think that kits are available to use oversize bars with them.

Check eBay for a front end setup... sometimes I see them with the oversize bar kits already included.

Here are some more possibilities... these would use the donor top bearing with the DR bottom bearing....

KX125 92-05 28mm 52mm 30mm 55mm

KX250 92-04 28mm 52mm 30mm 55mm

KX250F 04-05 28mm 52mm 30mm 55mm

RMZ250 04-05 28mm 52mm 30mm 55mm

And these you use the top bearing from above with the bottom bearing from the DR.....

RM125 91-92 28mm 54mm 30mm 52mm

RM250 91-92 28mm 54mm 30mm 52mm

RMX250 91-92 28mm 54mm 30mm 52mm

Good Luck!

Found a nice looking set of forks on ebay for a kx 2001. Some time this week though I will check at the local bike salvage shop. Would rather buy here and avoid shipping if possible.
