1996 XR600R stock suspension recommendations.

Recommended Posts

I did do a search and could not find this information. So for a Honda Newbie please help.

I just picked up a 1996 Honda XR600R with a stock suspension. I am 5'11" and weigh 170lbs. My riding is mostly light trail and single track and normally skewed with lots of baby head rocks. I am 50ish and enjoy long walks on the - Oh never mind! :ride:

As I got the bike the rear preload was set way soft and the rear compression damping was set at zero clicks. I am not sure how to set the rebound damping on this bike. Weird knob under the shock bottom?

The front forks are set about 1 1/4" above the triple tree and I assume they have no rebound damping. Fork air pressure is set at zero.

I assume that the PO had this set up so it would sit as low as possible. Being vertically challenged myself  I would like to keep it low but have a proper suspension.

I have set up suspensions before but am NO expert at it. Would anyone have the stock, starting positions for this bike?

Fork height above triple tree =

Front compression damping =

Static Sag =

Rider sag =

Rear compression damping =

Rear rebound damping ?? =

Thanks in advance.

Marc
