Aftermarket clutch basket

Recommended Posts

I have owed bikes my entire life but i have never ever considered aftermarket clutch parts for some reason. can anyone tell me the benefits of going with a hinson or barnett basket? Longer life? Better feel at the lever? Better response? Is it worth the price?

I never had to either till I started riding 4 strokes. It seems the heat buildup is tough on clutch parts. I had to get aftermarket baskets on my 2004 CRF250 and my 2006 Yam 250F. The stock Yam basket broke apart and the Honda grooved up. I like the Wiseco forged baskets. Good price and high quality.

Not to mention aftermarket baskets offer better oil flow.

Are they worth the price? If you have increaced the power a fair bit, or worn out the original one. Most wear out the original one first.

How difficult is it to remove the gear from the stock basket and attach it to the aftermarket one?

Thanks for the info guys, which brand would you recommend? Hinson, barnett?

GYT-R (Hinson rebranded but cheaper!)
