removing emission stuff on Cal model

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at the service manual. It appears I have a California model. I have a canister mounted on the left side in front of the tool kit. I also have a hose left over from my IMS tank swap. The hose enters the bottom of the tank on the passenger side. Yes, I did cap off the vacuum port to the petcock.

If I'm reading the manual right, this hose goes to the canister, then to the bottom of the carb into the "purge port".

If I take this crap off, will it affect anything? It looks to me as if this just takes tank vapors back to the carb.

Since you've already disconnected the fuel vapor hose, the canister isn't doing anything but taking up space. Will removing the cannister affect anything? Other than the air we breath, no. We're screwed anyway, toss it.
