July '06 Ouray DS ride

Recommended Posts

Went to Ouray, CO in July. Here are some photos.

The first morning in Ouray I rode up to Yankee Boy Basin. There is alot of Jeep traffic in the area, and not alot of room to pass sometimes. Everyone I met was very careful and courteous.

During the afternoon, I rode from Ouray over Black Bear Pass to Telluride and then over Imogene Pass back to Ouray.

This is looking down on Telluride from up on Black Bear Pass.

This photo is taken from the trail heading up up to Imogene out of Telluride. The view is looking back on the trails coming down off of Black Bear. If you look closely, you can see the trails zig-zagging down the mountain.

This is the East side of Imogene heading down toward Ouray.

The next day I rode the Alpine Loop. I rode out of Ouray and took the 'southern' route over Cinnamon Pass over to Lake City. I returned to Ouray on the 'northern' route going over Engineer Pass.

I was just getting started and this is looking back toward Ouray.

This is heading up toward Engineer Pass, but looking back toward Lake City.

From on top of Engineer Pass looking West toward Ouray. The roads you can see below are the way back.

Almost back to Ouray.

Thought you guys might to see some of these. 'Sorry I don't have the tricked out program to make it into a slide show. I found Ouray to be an excellent 'base of operations'.

Great pic's thanks for sharing!! People are going to wonder if you and I work for the Ouray Chamber of Commerce. I've taken the last year off from riding after crushing my foot out there last year. Pic's like these are really stirring my soul to get back into it. Although if you read the "Bike or Rider" thread below, I might be on a smaller and slower bike.

Those have to be some of the most beautiful places on the earth!

Amen Brother ! Let me know if Ouray is hiring ! That must have been you on the crutches in the slideshow. It took a couple of hrs to load your slideshow on my old system, but it was worth the wait. Very cool.

This was my first time to Ouray, and I really like the area. I hope to make a Rocky Mountain ride a yearly thing.

I had contacted the Colorado 500 people and they never replied back to me, so that helped me make up my mind to just do it myself. Glad I did. Hope you can get back on a bike - even if it is a smaller one.
