New chain/sproket set QUESTION

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I just got my renthal gold 120 link chain and front and rear black sprocket set in today.

Got the sprockets and wheel back on, but the chain is way long. How many links are on a stock 2004 YZ250F? I cant go off my old one because the previous owner had a 50t sprocket on the back, and I put on stock size sprockets (13/48).

Thank you!

(BTW, I was able to put on the rear tire I also got myself, THANKS TO THUMPER TALK's tips on the home page, and didnt pinch the tube! It wasnt fun, but beats waiting for the dealer to put it on... This place is awesome!)

114 I think but to be sure, just see where they pass each other and cut it there.

Now by "cut" it, you mean buy a chain breaker right? Or is there a way to do it without one?

You can take a grinder to the top of the pins and then just punch them through.

Gotcha... so 114 links is the stock chain size on the 250f?

Where should the adjustmet start off? With the swing arm chain adjustment bolts all the way in, or 1/4 way out, or what?

Thanks!

About in the middle is the factory setting to allow room for gearing changes.
