89 xr250 clutch

Recommended Posts

well i'm finally putting my bike back together and i have a question. Maybe i'm not reading the book right or something.

when you install the clutch springs, plate, and tighten down the bolts, do you tighten them all the way in, just not torqued to tight? or are the partially out?

the only way i get any clutch movement (pulling the handle) is with the bolts loosened about 2-3 turns out from tight, but this doesn't seem right to me.

I would really appreciate it if somebody could please explain to me how tight these bolts should be (i know the book says 8ft lbs, but is that after the bolts are bottomed out)

thank you very much

Brian

Yes the clutch spring bolts go in all the way. Sounds like you're missing a shim somewhere.
