Fork Seal install trouble, quick question

Recommended Posts

Im having trouble installing the oil seal, its not going in far enough for the circlip to catch the groove. Im using a home made pvc seal driver. Im tempted to hit it a little harder but i know delicate parts and force dont mix that well :/ . Just to clarify the the washer and then the bushing go behind the seal right? Any help is greatly apreciated!!!! thx- Mike

You need to hit it harder. Make sure your driver is not moving. Put a light coat of grease on the seal and inside the fork tube where the seal goes. Hold a block of wood against the top and hit it with a large mallet. It useually only takes one or two good hits. So long as your driver is made right you will not damage anything. If it is made wrong you will tear your seals though.
