06' 250 came with 2 178 jets!?!?

the installed factory jet was a 178S, but they also included a 178 (w/out the 'S') in the bag o' extras. Can anyone enlighten me as to the difference?

Maybe they figured your were going to ride so much that the first one would wear out??? I hope you are able to ride so much this is an issue! LOL

Mine came with 4 mains, I believe. 180, 175 172 and 170 .

Yours is probably an oversight.

No difference between the two. The "S" pretty much means "stock".

I thik the S stands for super-secret-factory spec.

Sure, it says 178.....but in reality its a.......well, they made me sign non-disclosure documents preventing me from telling.

I also had one of the super-secret pilot jets duplicated. Perhaps they let the chain selection guy pack jets on the yz 250 assembly line? Remember the guy??? He also chose the oil filler hole location on the pre 98 models. You damn near had to take th epipe off to fill the tranny.

Funny how everyone got a duplicate of something whether it was a main or pilot. I didn't know Yamaha Japan had so many stoners working the line....

Same here....2ea.-178 mains.Maybe they ran out of 175 mains??? Or thinking that the bike is stock with a 175 main and provided us with a 178 & 172 main jet.

I had a mag years ago (I think it was 1999) that took you through a walk through of the yamaha assembly line with a YZ250 being built. It was really cool. I ant kidding when I say Jap ladies build the bikes, I dont think I seen even one guy.

They even start them and run them through each gear on a dyno looking machine with this fuel thing hooked to the carb so the tank stays dry.

Anyone got that mag?
