DRZ maintenance

Recommended Posts

There are five different DVD's available from Motopower Video Productions that show you how to do your own wrenching. A certified mechanic is used in all the DVD's and he shows the tips and tricks he uses every day at the shop.

Here's a quick run down on the available DVD's for the DRZ:

Valve check and adjust - This DVD starts with removing the seat and ends with putting the seat back on the bike. We even show how to calculate the correct shim size. No steps are skipped!

Fork DVD - We remove the forks from the bike, tear the fork down, show how the clickers operate, pull the shim/valve stack a part and describe it's operation. Then we put it back together with new seals and new oil. Installation of both OEM seals and Synergy brand seals are demonstrated.

Carburetor tune-up - Describes how a carburetor operates and how to re-jet and change the needle, adjust idle and the air/fuel screw. Adjustments are made then the bike is started showing the effect of the adjustment to the spark plug and exhaust smoke. The Carb DVD shows tuning a 2-stroke and a 4 stroke

Basic Maintenance DVD - We show you how a professional does the maintenance that needs to be done frequently. You'll learn how to: Change the oil and oil filter, Clean and lubricate the air filter, Lube the throttle cables and brake cables, Check and adjust the spokes, Replace the chain and sprokets and set the chain tension properly, Check the wheel bearings and seals, Inspect the swingarm bearings, Change the rear tire & install the wheel, Change the Brake Pads and Bleed/flush the brake fluid. We use several makes/models of bikes in the DVD to demonstrate the differences between procedures on each bike.

Martys, you have the wrong fork video listed in the catalog for the DR-Z400SM model as it has the Showa brand inverted forks similar to the RM125/250 and not the same style as the S or the E.Same with the carb. The catalog lists the video for the Keihin FCR but the SM only comes equiped with the Mikuni bsr36 cv-type carb.Just a clarification for those that may think they're getting a specific application for a particular task and it might not be the case.Or am I wrong on this?

Thanks for catching our mistake. When we release a DVD we do quite a bit of research for applicability but we missed the difference on the SM. We will update our catalog.

I appreciate the input.
